In an entertaining game, the Reserves lost their first home Suburban League match of the season when they went down by the odd goal in seven to an impressive Leighton Town side. Abdul Yoki, continuing his comeback from injury, put the Woods ahead and, after the visitors had levelled, top scorer Carl Hunt made it 2-1 at half-time. In the second-half, Leighton hit back quickly and, taking advantage of a penalty miss by Aryan Taj, they established a 3-2 lead with fifteen minutes to go. Another penalty was awarded to the Woods five minutes later and this time Carl Hunt tucked it away to bring the scores level. They went off in search off a late winner but missed some glorious chances, had another penalty appeal turned down after Dwane Williams had been felled by the 'keeper, and then conceded what proved to be the winner two minutes from time. Goalkeeper Rob Pearce failed to hold a fierce shot and the visitors were clinical in despatching the loose ball. |
